POST BOXES AT LAST ON SHERFIELD PARK!
Following a personal campaign stretching over three years, Sherfield Park will finally have its own post boxes. At a recent meeting with Royal Mail and BDBC, an agreement was reached to provide post boxes on the development.
A large post box will be located in the vicinity of the Community Centre and the retail shops. This is to be installed following the completion of the Community Centre early next year.
In addition, a small post box will be located near the bus stop on Gaiger Avenue; it is planned to have this installed in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Attention all dog walkers
DOG MESS ON SHERFIELD PARK
I think we all agree that living on Sherfield Park with its open spaces and numerous walks is an excellent place to live. For dog owners it is ideal, as the open spaces are right on your doorstep. It is unfortunate that as the number of residents increases so does the incidents of dog fouling. The situation particularly on the sports field close to the children’s playground is now serious. Whilst the vast majority of dog owners gather up their dogs mess, a small but unfortunately growing minority do not. This anti social behaviour is not only unsightly but extremely dangerous, particularly to children.
The risk of children contracting Toxocariasis is real and can result in permanent blindness.
We have alerted both the Dog Wardens and community police officers together with BDBC Environmental Care to the increasing problem in order that swift action can be taken against offenders. The rules are very clear, if your dog poos in a public area you are required to pick it up, bag it and either place it in a convenient waste bin or take it home.
The penalty for not dealing hygienically with your dogs mess is an on-the-spot fine of £50 and if convicted in a magistrate court a maximum fine of £1000.
It has now been arranged for increased patrols on the development, in addition, should you see someone not dealing with their dogs mess, the advice is the following;
Politely encourage guilty owners you meet to do their duty. You do not need to be rude, simply offer them one of your poo bags.
If this is not successful, note what happened as soon as possible, include if possible the name and address of the person in charge of the dog, a description of the dog, plus details of the date, time of day and place of the offence. You can either contact the dog warden on 01256 845474 and ask of the Dog Warden or
BDBC has a confidential address to submit your complaint to on
